MOUNTAINVILLE, N.Y. - "I can't talk," Mark di Suvero said to an importunate visitor. "I have to get to work." His face crinkled into a smile of apology.
"Work," on a recent blustery afternoon at the 500-acre Storm King Art Center here, was installing "Ad Astra," a new monumental sculpture, in the middle of what was once a hay field. Mr. di Suvero, who is 71, was operating the crane that lifted each section of a 48-foot-tall, 12-ton orange steel behemoth into place. He fidgeted with his hard hat, eager to get going ....
